Reviews

“Jay did a fantastic job with my Telecaster! After installing a new neck and setup, the guitar plays effortlessly and sounds great. Very happy with the outcome, fair pricing too!” - Andrew Ponyrko

"Tucked away in the woods is someone very knowledgeable about instruments and willing to share that knowledge with you, both practically and verbally. Jay helped my guitar through a hard time. This winter’s dryness (plus my not noticing that) had torn it up. Jay gently resuscitated and mended the guitar, then patiently and expertly supported me through the process of getting it set up to my liking again. Thank you, Jay, for the meaningful support!" - Claire Bates

Setups:  Overall, a good setup is essential for getting the most out of your instrument in terms of playability, tone, longevity, and tuning.  It can significantly elevate your playing experience.  I often see brand new guitars from the factory needing setups, especially if they have been purchased on the internet.

Electronics: I find a budget guitar can suddenly sound more like it’s pro-level big brother with an upgrade in electronic components. Though sometimes all you need is a minor repair to get thing back on track.

Nuts & Saddles: Properly fitted, high-quality nuts and saddles not only improve the sound, sustain, tuning, and performance of a guitar but also enhance the overall playing experience. This is a great place to start when thinking of upgrading your instrument, especially if you are working with plastic now.

Crack Repairs: Cracks are not the end of the world. Some of the best guitars have had crack repairs; it just adds to the character.

Bridges: Strings put a lot of pressure on the bridge. A lifting bridge causes tuning instability, high action, and dead tone, requiring immediate repair.

Drum Repair: Drums are my primary instrument, and I’ve been tinkering with them since I was a boy.  I have built entire drum sets and restored vintage gems to glory.  I’ve even worked on the world’s most elaborate kit belonging to the iconic Terry Bozzio. Whatever your needs, I can help.

“Writing this review a little bit out from the repair after playing it for a while, I am quite happy with the work that was done. This guitar has never felt more playable and the wiring work is super solid and clean. I would highly recommend anyone in the central VT area who needs work done on their guitar or just wants their instrument to be playing and sounding its best to reach out to HempTone.“ - Brandon Dyer

Fret Work: Buttery-smooth, level frets are key to instruments reaching their potential. From complete re-frets and levelings to taking the edge off those pesky sharp fret ends and the odd loose or high fret, I got you covered.
